Best Halogen Heater – UK 2023 Review

In This Guide You Will Find Reviews on Halogen Heaters

Selecting the best halogen heater is quite simple. They all perform the same, pretty much look the same, all halogen heaters made for home usually feel cheaply made (aren’t I doing a great job selling them). The only halogen heater that I have come across that felt well-made was an industrial commercial use Draper halogen heater.

Ultimately, it will come down to colour choice, whether if you want 3 heat bars or 2 heat bars, the cheapest price, or if you want a completely different one to a freestanding halogen heater and want a wall mountable one.

In this halogen heaters review, rather than providing you with 10 halogen heaters reviews where they all look the same and perform the same, we have reviewed four very different halogen heaters that are suited to different circumstances.

Daewoo Halogen Heater Review Rating: 4.8 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

Key Features:

  • 3 Heat power settings
  • Oscillating
  • Safety tip protection

I will be the first to admit this Daewoo is not the prettiest to look at, but this is pretty much how all halogen heaters look like, plain and basic.

What makes this generic looking halogen heater different? Well, it is made by Daewoo, they are one of the better manufactures of Halogen heaters which means you should get more use out of this one compared to unknown or unbranded halogen heaters. If you are looking for a heater that should last, this is the one to go for.

It has all the standard features you would expect, 3 heat settings 400w, 800w and 1,200w. Osculates and has switch off tip overprotection.

Is a Halogen Heater The Cheapest to Run?

When considering if a halogen heater is the cheapest to run, it is important to look at the amount of energy they use, as ultimately that is what your energy company will charge you for, and determine how cheap a halogen heater is to run. As of UK October 2022 price cap, the average cost per kilowatt-hours (kWh) is 34p, if we take the average kWh price (34p) and times it by 0.4 (400 watts) this will tell us how much it costs per hour for a 400w halogen heater, example below:

0.34 × 0.4 = 0.136p : if we round this up to the nearest even figure, the cost to run a 400W halogen heater per hour is 14p

For most 3 bar UK halogen heaters the max output is 1200 watts, and in order to work out the cost per hour, we use a similar formula to the one for 400 watts per hour. The only difference in this formula will be that 1200 watts = 1.2, to work out the 1200w halogen heater cost per hour, use the formula below:

0.34 × 1.2 = 0.408 – if we round this up to the nearest even figure, the cost to run a 1200w halogen heater per hour is 41p

Convector and oil filled heaters are a middle ground heater, good for general homes with average insulation.

For example, fan heaters are the best heaters for garages as they are usually poorly insulated and leak air, a garage Fan heaters pump out hot air fast and circulate it around the room quickly, however, in a small well insulated room, a fan heater would be terrible as it would become very hot, stuffy and fell very uncomfortable.
